“Smutny has the kind of presence that makes her interesting to watch doing just about anything."
- Martha Schabas (The Globe and Mail)
I've been coming to Folegandros for more than ten years. I have family here and speak the language. I've worked as a cook and yoga instructor and have shared my choreographic work at the Folegandros Festival.
I come to Greece, back to my roots, to gain inspiration not only for my art practice, but also for living. My mother, sisters, and I work in the field of alternative therapies and I've designed Curated to share this way of life with you.
During your time on the island, you'll eat locally sourced food, spend time on the beaches, and deepen your yoga and meditation practice. I'll be your guide when you want one and disappear when you don't.
We all come from different places, cultures, and professions. This retreat is for all lifestyles. It's about sharing a time of beauty, transformation, and fun together - on an island filled with natural energy and mysticism.
"Zoja offered more than a yoga retreat.
It was a complete travel experience."
- Wassen Mahdi, Financial Planner, Canada
"Going to the retreat
was the best decision I made all year.
The experience was priceless and the memories will last a lifetime."
- Anna Koleva, Director of Marketing, Bulgaria
"Zoja provides an emotional space
where you feel respected and cared for.
She has a unique ability to challenge and inspire - and she also knows how to have a good time!"
- Patrick Orr, Performer, United States
Zoja Smutny is a Greek-Czech-Canadian artist, curator, and yoga instructor who spends her time making, performing, and teaching between Toronto, Montreal, L.A., and Berlin. She's spent six summers on Folegandros.
Zoja has been teaching both Pilates and Yoga for over ten years, in a wide variety of contexts and continents. She has trained professional dancers, as well as people who have no previous experience moving their body. Because of her dance training backgound, she has the ability to adjust quickly to what a class needs, and is very comfortable with hands-on adjustments.
Zoja’s main focus in her own yoga practice and teaching is the breath and finding space in the mind through the body.
